GPA Calculator

Calculate your OU GPA and convert it to percentage using the official whole-letter 4.0 grading scale used on your Sooner transcript.

Tool 1

OU GPA Calculator

Add each course with its letter grade and credit hours. Calculation uses OU's official grade-point values.

Add Your Courses

OU uses a whole-letter 4.0 scale (A–F) with no plus/minus grades.

The Math

How OU GPA Is Calculated

OU multiplies each grade point by credit hours to get quality points, then divides total quality points by total graded credit hours.

OU GPA Formula
\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum \text{Quality Points}}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Graded Hours}} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum (\text{Grade Point} \times \text{Credit Hours})}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Credit Hours}} \]
Quality PointsGrade point value × credit hours for each course
Graded HoursTotal graded credit hours (excludes P, S, W, I, etc.)

📝 Worked Example

Three courses on the OU 4.0 scale:

CourseCredit HoursGradeGrade PointQuality Points
ENGL 11133.0A4.003 × 4.00 = 12.00
MATH 19144.0B3.004 × 3.00 = 12.00
HIST 14833.0C2.003 × 2.00 = 6.00
Total10.030.00

Plugging into the formula:

\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{30.00}{10.0} = \mathbf{3.00} \]
Tool 2

OU GPA to Percentage Converter

Convert your 4.0-scale OU GPA to an equivalent percentage instantly.

Convert GPA → Percentage

Enter any OU GPA between 0.0 and 4.0.

The Conversion Formula

OU uses a 4.0 scale, so:

\[ \text{Percentage} = \text{GPA} \times 25 \quad \text{or equivalently} \quad \text{Percentage} = \left(\frac{\text{GPA}}{4.0}\right) \times 100 \]

Example: If your GPA is 3.5, then Percentage = 3.5 × 25 = 87.50%.

Got Questions?

OU GPA — Frequently Asked Questions

What GPA scale does the University of Oklahoma use?

OU uses a whole-letter 4.0 grade-point scale: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, and F = 0. There are no plus or minus grades in the GPA calculation.

Does OU use plus/minus grades?

No. The University of Oklahoma uses a regular whole-letter grading system. Only A, B, C, D, and F carry grade points — there are no A−, B+, or other plus/minus modifiers affecting your GPA.

How do I convert my OU GPA to a percentage?

Use Percentage = GPA × 25 (equivalent to (GPA ÷ 4.0) × 100). For example, a GPA of 3.5 converts to 87.5%.

Which grades are left out of my OU GPA?

Marks of P, S, I, X, U, N, NP, AW, and W carry no grade points and are excluded from both quality points and graded hours, so they don't affect your GPA.

What is OU's Academic Forgiveness Policy?

OU's Academic Forgiveness Policy lets eligible undergraduates repeat certain courses so that only the highest attempt counts toward the retention GPA. All attempts still appear on the official transcript. Specific limits and eligibility apply, so confirm details with the registrar.
