GPA Calculator

Calculate your OSU GPA and convert it to percentage using the official plus/minus 4.0 grading scale used on your Beaver transcript.

Tool 1

OSU GPA Calculator

Add each course with its letter grade and credits. Calculation uses OSU's official grade-point values.

Add Your Courses

OSU uses a plus/minus 4.0 scale. There is no A+, and OSU truncates the final GPA to two decimals.

The Math

How OSU GPA Is Calculated

OSU multiplies each grade point by credits to get total points, then divides total points by total graded credits.

OSU GPA Formula
\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum \text{Total Points}}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Total Credits}} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum (\text{Grade Point} \times \text{Credits})}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Graded Credits}} \]
Total PointsGrade point value × credits for each course
Total CreditsCredits in which A, B, C, D, or F was received (excludes P, N, W, S, U, etc.)

📝 Worked Example

The official OSU example from Academic Regulation 19:

CreditsGradeGrade PointTotal Points
1A4.01 × 4.0 = 4
2B3.02 × 3.0 = 6
3C2.03 × 2.0 = 6
4D1.04 × 1.0 = 4
5F0.05 × 0.0 = 0
1520

Plugging into the formula:

\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{20}{15} \approx \mathbf{1.33} \]
Tool 2

OSU GPA to Percentage Converter

Convert your 4.0-scale OSU GPA to an equivalent percentage instantly.

Convert GPA → Percentage

Enter any OSU GPA between 0.0 and 4.0.

The Conversion Formula

OSU uses a 4.0 scale, so:

\[ \text{Percentage} = \text{GPA} \times 25 \quad \text{or equivalently} \quad \text{Percentage} = \left(\frac{\text{GPA}}{4.0}\right) \times 100 \]

Example: If your GPA is 3.5, then Percentage = 3.5 × 25 = 87.50%.
