GPA Calculator

Calculate your OSU GPA and convert it to percentage using the official 4.0 grading scale used on your Cowboy transcript.

Tool 1

OSU GPA Calculator

Add each course with its letter grade and credit (semester) hours. Calculation uses OSU's official grade-point values.

Add Your Courses

OSU uses a straight 4.0 scale — only A, B, C, D and F carry grade points. There are no plus/minus grades.

The Math

How OSU GPA Is Calculated

OSU multiplies each grade point by credit hours to get grade points earned, then divides total grade points by total GPA hours.

OSU GPA Formula
\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum \text{Grade Points}}{\displaystyle\sum \text{GPA Hours}} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum (\text{Grade Point Value} \times \text{Credit Hours})}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Credit Hours}} \]
Grade PointsGrade point value × credit hours for each course
GPA HoursTotal graded credit hours (excludes P, W, I, etc.)

📝 Worked Example

A three-course example using the OSU 4.0 scale:

CourseCredit HoursGradeGrade PointGrade Points
ENGL 11133.0A4.003 × 4.00 = 12.00
MATH 15133.0B3.003 × 3.00 = 9.00
HIST 11033.0C2.003 × 2.00 = 6.00
Total9.027.00

Plugging into the formula:

\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{27.00}{9.0} = \mathbf{3.00} \]
Tool 2

OSU GPA to Percentage Converter

Convert your 4.0-scale OSU GPA to an equivalent percentage instantly.

Convert GPA → Percentage

Enter any OSU GPA between 0.0 and 4.0.

The Conversion Formula

OSU uses a 4.0 scale, so:

\[ \text{Percentage} = \text{GPA} \times 25 \quad \text{or equivalently} \quad \text{Percentage} = \left(\frac{\text{GPA}}{4.0}\right) \times 100 \]

Example: If your GPA is 3.5, then Percentage = 3.5 × 25 = 87.50%.

📌 Grades Excluded from GPA

Marks such as P (Pass), W (Withdrawal), I (Incomplete), AU (Audit), N, P/NP, and similar non-letter grades carry no grade points and are not included in GPA hours, so they do not affect your GPA.

Only A, B, C, D, and F count toward both grade points and GPA hours. Some courses may be excluded under University and State Regents policy and the Academic Forgiveness provisions.
