How OSU GPA Is Calculated
OSU multiplies each grade point by credit hours to get grade points earned, then divides total grade points by total GPA hours.
📝 Worked Example
A three-course example using the OSU 4.0 scale:
| Course | Credit Hours | Grade | Grade Point | Grade Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ENGL 1113 | 3.0 | A | 4.00 | 3 × 4.00 = 12.00 |
| MATH 1513 | 3.0 | B | 3.00 | 3 × 3.00 = 9.00 |
| HIST 1103 | 3.0 | C | 2.00 | 3 × 2.00 = 6.00 |
| Total | 9.0 | — | — | 27.00 |
