How Northeastern GPA Is Calculated
Northeastern multiplies each grade point by credit hours to get quality points, then divides total quality points by total GPA-eligible credit hours.
📝 Worked Example
A sample term with three courses on the 4.0 scale:
| Course | Credit Hours | Grade | Grade Point | Quality Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ENGW 1111 | 4.0 | A | 4.000 | 4 × 4.000 = 16.000 |
| MATH 1341 | 4.0 | A− | 3.667 | 4 × 3.667 = 14.668 |
| CS 2500 | 4.0 | B+ | 3.333 | 4 × 3.333 = 13.332 |
| Total | 12.0 | — | — | 44.000 |
