GPA Calculator

Calculate your FIU GPA and convert it to percentage using the official 4.0 grading scale used on your Panther transcript.

Tool 1

FIU GPA Calculator

Add each course with its letter grade and credit hours. Calculation uses FIU's official grade-point values.

Add Your Courses

FIU uses a 4.0 scale. Under the standard system (Fall 2016+) the top value is A = 4.00 — there is no A+.

The Math

How FIU GPA Is Calculated

FIU multiplies each grade point by credit hours to get grade points earned, then divides total grade points by total graded credit hours.

FIU GPA Formula
\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum \text{Grade Points}}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Credit Hours}} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum (\text{Grade Point} \times \text{Credit Hours})}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Credit Hours}} \]
Grade PointsGrade point value × credit hours for each course
Credit HoursTotal graded credit hours (excludes P, NC, AU, IN, DR/W)

📝 Worked Example

A sample calculation using three courses:

CourseCredit HoursGradeGrade PointGrade Points Earned
ENC 11013.0A4.003 × 4.00 = 12.00
MAC 23114.0B−2.674 × 2.67 = 10.68
CHM 10453.0C2.003 × 2.00 = 6.00
Total10.028.68

Plugging into the formula:

\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{28.68}{10.0} \approx \mathbf{2.87} \]
Tool 2

FIU GPA to Percentage Converter

Convert your 4.0-scale FIU GPA to an equivalent percentage instantly.

Convert GPA → Percentage

Enter any FIU GPA between 0.0 and 4.0.

The Conversion Formula

FIU uses a 4.0 scale, so:

\[ \text{Percentage} = \text{GPA} \times 25 \quad \text{or equivalently} \quad \text{Percentage} = \left(\frac{\text{GPA}}{4.0}\right) \times 100 \]

Example: If your GPA is 3.5, then Percentage = 3.5 × 25 = 87.50%.

📌 Grades Excluded from GPA

The following marks carry no grade points and are not counted in graded credit hours: NC (No Credit), P (Pass), NP (No Pass), AU (Audit), IN (Incomplete), and DR/W (Drop/Withdrawal).

An F0 (never attended) is treated identically to an F (0.00) for GPA purposes. An IN that is not made up within two consecutive semesters defaults automatically to an F.
