How Drexel GPA Is Calculated
Drexel multiplies each grade point by credit hours to get quality points, then divides total quality points by total credits attempted.
📝 Worked Example
A sample term using three courses:
| Course | Credit Hours | Grade | Grade Point | Quality Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ENGL 101 | 3.0 | A | 4.00 | 3 × 4.00 = 12.00 |
| MATH 121 | 4.0 | B− | 2.67 | 4 × 2.67 = 10.68 |
| HIST 110 | 3.0 | C+ | 2.33 | 3 × 2.33 = 6.99 |
| Total | 10.0 | — | — | 29.67 |
Plugging into the formula:
Drexel reports the GPA to two decimal places and does not round up.

The following marks carry no grade points and are not counted in your GPA: AU (Audit), INC (Incomplete), W (Withdrawal), CR (Credit), and NCR (No Credit).
An unresolved INC becomes an I/F, and an unresolved GNS becomes an N/F — both are treated as a failure (0.00) and are permanent.
Drexel GPA — Frequently Asked Questions
What GPA scale does Drexel University use?
Drexel uses a plus/minus 4.0 grade-point scale: A+ = 4.00, A = 4.00, A− = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, B = 3.00, B− = 2.67, C+ = 2.33, C = 2.00, C− = 1.67, D+ = 1.33, D = 1.00, and F = 0.00. There is no D−.
Is A+ worth more than 4.0 at Drexel?
No — at Drexel, A+ and A both equal 4.00. The scale is capped at 4.00, so an A+ cannot raise your GPA above 4.0.
Does Drexel round the GPA?
No. Drexel calculates the GPA to two decimal places and does not round it up. Only credits from the first passing completion of a course count toward earned and passed hours.
How do I convert my Drexel GPA to a percentage?
Use Percentage = GPA × 25 (equivalent to (GPA ÷ 4.0) × 100). For example, a GPA of 3.5 converts to 87.5%.
Which grades are left out of my Drexel GPA?
Marks of AU, INC, W, CR, and NCR carry no grade points and are excluded from the GPA. An unresolved INC or GNS, however, converts to a permanent failing grade (0.00).
