GPA Calculator

Calculate your uOttawa TGPA & CGPA and convert it to percentage using the official 10-point grading scale from Academic Regulation A-3.

Tool 1

uOttawa GPA Calculator

Add each course with its letter grade and unit value. Calculation uses uOttawa's official 10-point grade values.

Add Your Courses

uOttawa uses a 10-point grade-point scale. A+ = 10, down to F = 0.

The Math

How uOttawa GPA Is Calculated

uOttawa multiplies each grade's numerical value by the course units, then divides the total by total units.

uOttawa GPA Formula
\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{\displaystyle\sum (\text{Grade Value} \times \text{Units})}{\displaystyle\sum \text{Units}} \]
Grade ValueNumerical value of the letter grade (0–10)
UnitsUnit value assigned to each course

📝 Worked Example

Suppose a student completes 5 courses with the following grades and units:

CourseUnitsLetter GradeGrade ValueGrade Points
Course 13A+103 × 10 = 30
Course 23A−83 × 8 = 24
Course 33B+73 × 7 = 21
Course 41.5B61.5 × 6 = 9
Course 53C+53 × 5 = 15
Total13.599

Plugging into the formula:

\[ \text{GPA} = \frac{99}{13.5} \approx \mathbf{7.33} \]
Tool 2

uOttawa GPA to Percentage Converter

Estimate an equivalent percentage from your 10-point uOttawa GPA.

Convert GPA → Percentage

Enter any uOttawa GPA between 0.0 and 10.0.

The Conversion Formula

uOttawa uses a 10-point scale, so the standard estimate is:

\[ \text{Percentage} = \text{GPA} \times 10 \quad \text{or equivalently} \quad \text{Percentage} = \left(\frac{\text{GPA}}{10}\right) \times 100 \]

Example: If your GPA is 7.33, then Percentage ≈ 7.33 × 10 = 73.3%.

Note: uOttawa grades are band-based, so this is an approximation. For an exact mark, refer to the percentage band of each letter grade in the table below.

🎓 Graduate Note

At the graduate level, the pass threshold is higher than for undergraduates.

For most graduate programs, all grades below C+ (65%) are failing grades. Programs may set higher minimums, and the supplemental-exam provision tied to the E grade does not apply to graduate studies.

Got Questions?

uOttawa GPA — Frequently Asked Questions

What GPA scale does the University of Ottawa use?

uOttawa uses an official 10-point grade-point scale (Academic Regulation A-3). A+ = 10, A = 9, A− = 8, B+ = 7, B = 6, C+ = 5, C = 4, D+ = 3, D = 2, E = 1, and F = 0.

How is my uOttawa CGPA calculated?

For each course, grade points = grade value × units. Your CGPA is the sum of all grade points divided by the sum of all units taken, rounded to two decimal places.

What's the difference between TGPA and CGPA?

TGPA (Term Grade Point Average) covers a single term. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) covers all courses taken across your program — successful or not.

How do I convert my uOttawa GPA to a percentage?

As a quick estimate, Percentage = GPA × 10. Because uOttawa grades are band-based, this is approximate — check the percentage band of each letter grade in the scale table for an exact figure.
