📝 Worked Example
Suppose a student completes 5 courses with the following grades and units:
| Course | Units | Letter Grade | Grade Value | Grade Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Course 1 | 3 | A+ | 10 | 3 × 10 = 30 |

| Course 3 | 3 | B+ | 7 | 3 × 7 = 21 |
| Course 4 | 1.5 | B | 6 | 1.5 × 6 = 9 |
| Course 5 | 3 | C+ | 5 | 3 × 5 = 15 |

🎓 Graduate Note
At the graduate level, the pass threshold is higher than for undergraduates.
For most graduate programs, all grades below C+ (65%) are failing grades. Programs may set higher minimums, and the supplemental-exam provision tied to the E grade does not apply to graduate studies.
uOttawa GPA — Frequently Asked Questions
